Studying a language goes beyond mastering its structure; it serves as a gateway to explore a new culture with its myriad facets. Recent technological advancements have significantly bridged the gap between people from various backgrounds. Cinema, particularly in the context of translating cinematic content from one language to another, stands out as a potent tool for cultural exchange. Audiovisual translation now plays a pivotal role in disseminating these visual materials among diverse linguistic communities. Despite its significance, translators encounter linguistic and cultural challenges during this process due to language disparities. This paper delves into an analysis of translation errors in the subtitling of the first season of the series The House of Paper, using episodes from the season as examples. Our objective is to underscore the vital role of this form of translation in facilitating cultural exchange between languages and to pinpoint the challenges faced by translators in this endeavor. We anticipate that this study will serve as a foundation for future studies, inspiring further exploration of subtitled works between Spanish and Arabic by other researchers.
