المستخلص

Stage directions are signals the author writes to the actor, receiver, director, or scenographer. These directions are often placed in parentheses and italicized in the dramatic text in order to be distinguished from the main dialogue between the play’s characters. These instructions are provided in the form of notes, phrases, vocabulary, focused sentences, text paragraphs, or subtext of the main dialogue. Stage directions include a set of data related to the status of the characters, the nature of theatrical dialogue between the characters, defining the dramatic space, etc. Stage directions play an important role in the dramatic space of theatrical works by French writer Yasmina Reda. This paper discusses the importance and forms of stage directions in Reda’s plays in addition to the role played by these directions in the dramatic structure of her plays.
